After a year of practicing we were not able to get it right.
So, on May 1st we sought help from the "Center for Fertility and IVF of Miami.
After viles and viles of blood, test after test, we learned we would be candidates for IVF.
On June 25th we began the Fertility Treatments.
Curt would probably say this was the last day my wife was "normal".
The emotional roller coaster is intensified with each new medication.
July 19th we began the series of shots that would encourage my body to produce multiple eggs.
The shots were both morning and night in my tummy....
It was determined that my eggs had matured enough for extraction.
On August 1st at 7:45a I underwent surgery to have my eggs removed.
While my eggs were being removed Curt was "providing".
My eggs were then sent to the lab were a single sperm was injected into each Egg.
The following day we learned that 8 of the 12 eggs had been fertilized.
We now waited to see how the embryo's developed - the Dr's were looking for two clear leaders.
On August 6th two of the eight Embryo's had developed into Blastocysts.
#1These were transferred into my uterus via a catheter.
I didn't feel a thing, but had to lay still for an hour following.
I guess they didn't want them to fall out.
I then had two days of bed rest at home.
We then had the most excruiating 9 days of waiting....
Did it work?
Did it not work?
Are we pregant?
On August 15th we traveled back to Miami for the pregnancy blood test.
We needed a beta HCG number of at least 100 - or close to.
Later that afternoon our nurse called with the great news....
